This extraordinary showpiece reflects the time when British used them in India. Lanterns were extensively used in Indian villages and cities when electricity was not present. Presently these lanterns are important home décor.
The lantern has an oval shaped glass in the middle with the bulb fitted inside. It is stained yellow glass and in earlier days, instead of an electric bulb, there was an oil lamp burning inside, giving out enough light to lit up your bedroom. The modern day lanterns hang from the ceiling of the balcony. You can have a romantic candle light dinner. The base and top is wood while the strings (used for hanging) are either coir or fiber.
