Girl before a Mirror is one of the most famous Picasso painting. Marie Thérèse, a teenager with whom Picasso had fallen in love, inspired this painting . Marie Thérèse was the inspiration behind many of the Picasso paintings, especially the Vollard Suite etchings. Picasso met Marie Thérèse Walter in 1927 and they lived together for some time and also had a daughter named Maya. Marie-Thérèse died By hanging herself in 1977, four years after Picasso died. This particular Picasso painting is filled with ornamental and decorative elements, common in the so-called glazed style applied to some of his works. Girl before a Mirror (162.6/130.2 cm) was painted By Picasso on 14 March 1932 as an oil painting on canvas. The painting was gifted to The Museum of Modern Art, New York By Mrs. Simon Guggenheim.
