Portrait of Marie Thérèse is one of the classic oil paintings of Picasso, painted in 1937. Presently, the painting kept at the Picasso Museum, in Paris. Marie Thérèse was the inspiration behind many of the Picasso paintings, especially the Vollard Suite etchings. Picasso met Marie Thérèse Walter in 1927 and fell in love. They lived together for some time and also had a daughter named Maya. Marie-Thérèse died By hanging herself in 1977, four years after Picasso died.
