Woven Bed Sheets

Meaning of Bed Sheet
Bed sheets are rectangular pieces of cloth used to cover mattresses. It is the sheet that a person lies on. Traditionally a bed sheet was white in color. Nowadays they are available in a variety of colors and prints to suit individual tastes and match the home décor.

Manufacturing Woven Bed Sheets:
Bed sheets are woven on broadlooms. They don't have center seams. Woven bed sheets have hems at the bottom and sides and need not be hemmed. The fibers used in weaving bed sheets differ according to choice. Woven sheets are available in linen, cotton or synthetic blends. Luxury bed spreads in silk, satin or velvet are also available. The best woven bed sheets are made of long stapled Egyptian or Supima cotton. One of the popular woven bed sheet materials is percale. Percale is a cotton or cotton-polyester blend cloth of close weave. Percale is cool and smooth and comfortable for use in the hot weather. For the chilly season, flannel is a good choice for woven bed sheets.

Choosing Woven Bed Sheets: The most important point to remember while buying woven bed sheets is to measure the thread count. Sheets having higher thread count are better and have a smoother finish. Sateen woven sheets have a soft finish but they are less durable. Finally it is important to know the correct pocket size of the mattresses. The sheets should tuck a few inches under the thickness of the mattress to avoid slipping out.

While buying woven bed sheets it is essential to keep in mind that natural woven fabrics are better than synthetic woven fabrics. Natural fabrics allow more breathing and better moisture absorption. Synthetic fabrics are cheaper than natural fabrics, but in the long run, they are better. Naturally woven fabrics have more durability and comfort than synthetic woven bed sheets.
