Meaning of Curtain

Curtains are primarily used to partition spaces in a room or area and create some privacy. Apart from these, curtains can also be used to screen lights and absorb heat. Curtains are available in a variety of materials, sizes and patterns.

Use of Plastic Curtains: Plastic curtains are used in bathrooms or at times in kitchens. Plastic curtains or shower curtains are used in bathrooms to cordon off the area around the bathtub or shower enclosure to prevent water spillage. Plastic curtains are water proof and make excellent barriers against water. The plastic used to make plastic shower curtains is called PVC or polyvinyl chloride. PVC is toxic and should not be used for children’s bathrooms. For children’s' bathrooms it is better to use vinyl curtains. Plastic curtains have hoops or loops built in them and can be hung easily on shower rods.

Types of Plastic Curtains: Plastic curtains are of many types: Novelty shower curtains- they are custom designed according to specific themes. Kid shower curtain- kid shower curtains are colorful, made of non toxic plastic and have cartoons or pictures of popular kids' characters on them. Theme Based plastic curtains- these plastic curtains have prints on them based on certain themes. A few companies make plastic curtains according to themes ordered by customers. Plastic curtains are quite cheap and can be easily replaced. They can be changed to depict season changes.

Care of Plastic Curtains: Plastic curtains are easily washable. They are in constant contact with water and therefore have to be cleaned with antiseptic soap and sun-dried often. A lot of people use two curtains in the bathroom. One is used around the bathing area and serves a functional purpose. The other bathroom curtain serves a purely decorative purpose. Plastic curtains should be changed after every few years.
