Mats

Making Mats:
The earliest types of mats were made from natural fibrous materials coarsely woven or plaited together. Nowadays mats are made of natural materials like jute, hemp or coir as well as from plastic, leather, vinyl or rubber. Mats made of natural materials are made by weaving the fibers and securing the ends tightly. They are made by hand and have a coarse finish. Mats of other materials are machine made and have a smooth finish. Mats are used to serve varied purposes.
