Lace Curtain


Lace is a kind of open work fabric with patterns made on it with holes. The holes in the lace can either be made by removing threads from a woven piece of cloth or the holes are created as a part of the weaving process. Lace making is an old craft which has been practiced for centuries. The clergy of the early Catholic Church used lace as a part of vestments during religious ceremonies. The widespread use of lace started in the 16th century. The most famous laces are those made in Belgium, Russia, Ireland, Spain and Hungary.

Purpose of Lace Curtains:
Lace curtains are the perfect changeover between the outdoors and indoors. Lace curtains filter the light passing through it without blocking it completely. During daytime, the curtains soften the sunlight and at nighttime, they brighten up the room. Lace curtains can be used by themselves as see-through curtains or can be used in combination with curtains of thicker fabrics to provide total privacy. The homeowners can choose a style that reflect their personality and use it as curtains. Lace curtains have a relaxing and comfortable feel. Lace curtains as an article of home furnishing has a timeless appeal.

Care of Lace Curtains:
Lace curtains should be hand washed in mild soap. Bleach should not be used. Lace curtains should be hung out to drip dry and the curtains dry up within a few hours. Lace curtains need not be ironed.
