Designer Quilt

Quilts are beddings used to keep people warm. They are made of three layers with the second layer being matting or insulating layer. Quilts can either be tied or stitched together. Tied quilts are often called comforters.
Making a Designer Quilt: Quilts are made with decorative designs or patchworks. Most of these quilts are machine made. However some people prefer one of a kind quilts with unusual designs. These are made in small numbers and are very expensive. These special quilts are known as designer quilts. Designer quilts do not mean that they were designed or made by the fashion designers themselves.

Rather the manufacturer gets the designers to approve a pattern or design and then takes out limited editions of that particular design of quilt. The quilt may have faint resemblance to the kind of clothes designed by the designer. Another way of getting designer quilts is to submit your own design and get the quilt stitched accordingly by a professional. Or if a person can stitch well, he or she can make the quilt on their own.
Uses of Designer Quilts:
Designer quilts can be used as beddings as well as decorations. Designer quilts with bright patterns and colors can be hung on walls as a room decoration. Quilts can also serve as a vehicle of artistic expression.

Caring for Designer Quilts:
Quilts are easily damaged by bright lights. Ideally a bedroom should have low lighting. While storing quilts, they should be kept with mothballs and in such a place where pets or rodents cannot harm it. Quilts should be aired periodically to get rid of dampness or musty smells. Quilts should be refolded every three to four months so that the fibers are not damaged from constant creasing. It is best to keep quilts in a quilt cover so that they last for a long time.
