Meaning of Curtains
A curtain is a piece of cloth used for hanging in doors, windows and other open spaces just to avoid the extra light and keeping privacy. Usually curtains are hanged on the inside portion of houses. Curtains are found in variety of materials, sizes, shapes and colors. There are some curtains entirely made in pure cotton, some are made of wool silk and other delicate materials.


In every modern and sophisticated house curtains are not only used for blocking light or keeping privacy but they are used as a form of style symbol. They are increasingly becoming a design feature rather than simply being a material of use. In this context the designer curtains are the best to use. If you wish to give your home entirely new look the first thing you must do is change your old plain curtains with some gracefully designed curtains. Designer curtains are available in different forms and patterns some are discussed below;

Jacobs: Jacobs are the tapered portion of a fabric that are usually self lined or contrast lined. In the Jacobs the linings are an important feature as it is used for fold backs when pleated. Jacobs are used as frames on either side of rows of swags.

Swags: Swags are also a form of designer curtain. They form a decorative element over windows by hanging from either side of the windows. There are several forms of this type of decoration.

Trails:strong> Trails are the fabrics that are usually hang down from the corners of the swags.

Lambrequin: Lambrequins are the stiff pelmets at the both sides of the window frames.

Rosettes: Rosettes are the most important point of curtain arrangement. It is like a finishing touch for curtain headings, swags and tails. There are several forms of this type of curtain arrangement including choux, knife pleated, rose, choux etc.

Flags: Flags are another form of designer curtain. Flags are usually double sided.
