Chair Cushion

Cushions are soft bag like objects that are used for furniture ornamentation or used as back supports. The origin of cushion dates back to the Middle Ages. During those times cushions were of huge sizes, big and firm enough to serves as seats.
Types of Chair Cushions: Chair cushions are used to provide a firm and comfortable support to a person while sitting. Modern chair cushions are scientifically designed to provide maximum support to the person's back and spine without causing any damage to the person's posture or backbone. Special chair cushions are available for people with backaches or posture problems.

Chair cushions are made of polyurethane foam with a high resiliency factor. The seat cushions are of special designs to relieve back pains, numb buttocks, leg cramps and other postural problems. The cushions can be categorized into orthopedic cushions, gel cushions, foam cushions and ornamental cushions.
Orthopedic Cushions:
The orthopedic cushions are designed to suspend the tail bone while sitting and reduce the resultant pressure on the lower spinal discs. The cushion tips the pelvis forward to restore the natural lumbar curve of the spine and provide comfort while sitting.

Gel Cushions: Gel cushions are filled with visco-elastic gel and have a special design to distribute the pressure and improve the posture and comfort level of the person. Gel cushions have a groove in the center that eliminates the compression of soft tissues and direct pressure on the spine.

Foam Cushions: Foam cushions are the most common type of cushions. They are cheaper but rarely of scientific design. Foam cushions are often the main cause of back problems for people who sit in a particular place for a long time.
