Bed Quilt


Bed quilt refers to the bedding made up of quilting two fabrics together. Quilt is, indeed, a form of bedding. It is a bed covering that consists of a quilt top, a layer of batting and a layer of fabric for backing. These are all stitched together to form quilt. Two types of techniques are used for stitching:
  • Quilting
  • Tying
Quilting is combining the layers of fabric. Tying is also a method to secure the quilt. But this is done with the help of a thread, ribbon or a yarn. One of these is passed through the layers of the fabric to tie it together. In fact, these ties at equal intervals hold the fabric firmly during usage as well as during washes. Generally, bed quilt are hand made and hence, the method of tying is much easier process. Tied quilts are known by different names as lap, comforter and comfort. Besides, there are other names too.

Use of Bed Quilts
Bed quilts, as the name suggests, is generally used for as bed covers. These are perfect home furnishing items. In fact, these are very essential part of your bedroom.
