Embroidery on bed spreads is different in every country and region. Indian embroidery uses natural dyes and limited colors in a single article. Indian embroidery differs from region to region. The Kashmir region uses satin stitches. Punjabi embroidery consists of the darn stitch which is used in “ Phulkari ” work. The Uttar Pradesh region of India is known for the famous “chikan” work, and Gujarat has its silk embroidery. European embroidery consists of needle point and cross stitch. European embroidery is different from Indian in that, European embroidery uses a lot of accessories like metal strips, beads, pearls and sequins. The use of such accessories is limited in Indian embroidery. Chinese embroidery is done entirely with silk threads. Embroidered bed spreads are in demand for their aesthetic value. Hand embroidered bed spreads are preferred even though they are more expensive. Hand embroidery is exclusive and exceptional. A similar product can never be found, whereas machine embroidered products are cheaper but have many copies. |
