Mural Painting

Mural painting is a form of art beautifully executed on walls, ceilings or other large permanent surface. The origin of mural paintings can be traced back to pre-historic times such as the paintings on the Caves of Lascaux in southern France.

The art of mural painting lies somewhere between fine art and house painting. In the recent times mural paintings can be executed in a variety of ways, using oil or other water based medium. Throughout the extent of history murals have generally been painted on larger areas portraying historic, religious, folk or patriotic themes.
